On October 7th, Port of Zeebrugge started the extension of ICO’s quay wall at Hanze terminal. The official ground breaking ceremony was attended by Mr. Steimler (chairman ICO), Marc Adriansens (Managing Director ICO), Mr. Coens (chairman Port of Zeebrugge).
Port of Zeebrugge decided to create extra infrastructure at the inner port. The extension of the quay is related to the car volumes and also to the Yamal project which leads to the storage of modules.
Current quay wall will be extended with 200m (inland direction) and 172 meter to the west at the end of the dock.
The construction of the quay wall and the dredging works should be finished by the beginning of 2017.
